Head of the Vascular Biology and Angiogenesis Laboratory of IRCCS MultiMedica and Scientific Director of MultiMedica Foundation, Professor of General Pathology at the Milan Bicocca University, she has been deputy Chief of Genoa Cancer Center ad Head of Research department of Reggio Emilia Cancer Center.
She trained at Max Planck Institute for Biochemistry, Munich and at the American National Institutes of Health, MD, USA. She has over 350 peer reviewed scientific publications and is among the most cited Italian women scientists in the biomedical field; she is elected, the first Italian, to the board of directors of the American Association for Cancer Research.
President of the club of the Top Italian Women Scientists of Onda (National Observatory Foundation on Women’s and Gender Health), and member of Scientific Commission of Health Ministry. Scientific journalist, she is also a veteran fencing champion (bronze at the 2018 Veterans World Cup and European Slver in épée 2015). She was recognized by BBC among the 100 most influential and inspiring women of 2020.
