Dear Readers,

Six months ago, we embarked on a journey, ambitious, humbling, and deeply meaningful.

In January 2025, CancerWorld, one of Europe’s most prestigious oncology publications, entered a new chapter under the ownership of p53 (OncoDaily). With that acquisition came a promise: to carry forward a legacy built by the European School of Oncology and later nurtured by SPCC, a legacy of independence, excellence, patient-centered journalism, and relevance. A legacy that demanded not just continuity, but growth.

Today, we pause to reflect, report, and extend our appreciation.

Rekindling the Power of Print

In an era where the digital dominates, we brought CancerWorld back to print. Why? Because some stories are too vital to scroll past. They deserve to be held, revisited, and remembered. Each of the six issues published so far has embodied the science, the struggle, and the soul of oncology. Distributed at leading international cancer conferences, these editions represent more than just paper and ink; they are a testament to people, progress, and purpose.

We introduced subtle design updates, most notably our signature fingerprint, stamped across every page. A symbol of our identity, our touch, our commitment. And yet, we preserved the elegance and sophistication our readers have long cherished.

Honoring the Human Behind the Breakthrough

We’ve remained steadfast in our mission: to tell the human stories behind the scientific ones.

As Alberto Costa, founder of CancerWorld, once said: “It’s not about papers. It’s about people.” These words continue to guide everything we do.

Our interviews and profiles have featured luminaries and legends in oncology, clinicians, researchers, organization leaders, advocates, and policymakers, whose work changes lives. But beyond titles and achievements, we showed you their passions, their doubts, and their humanity. From trailblazing therapies still awaiting approval to therapies that already changed the treatment strategies and global initiatives improving access to care in underserved regions, we highlighted innovations that matter and the people who dare to lead them.

In doing so, we didn’t just report the headlines; we gave them a heartbeat.

Curating with Care, Reporting with Integrity

Each issue has been the product of an international team of journalists, editors, illustrators, and designers, people who live and breathe cancer journalism. Our news stories are handpicked for relevance, significance, and scientific rigor. We’ve prioritized direct voices: researchers explaining their own discoveries, clinicians reflecting on systemic challenges, and advocates reimagining the future of survivorship.

Our goal has never been to break news for the sake of speed, but to break it down, for impact, for clarity, for connection.

Expanding the Conversation

While we embraced print, we also expanded our digital footprint. CancerWorld now has a growing presence not only on X but also on LinkedIn and Facebook, creating an open-access hub for cutting-edge science and inspiration across continents. From Milan to Hong Kong, Santiago de Chile to Nairobi, we’re building a space where knowledge transcends borders and unites people around one cause: improving cancer care, everywhere. A global dialogue that is essential.

Organic Growth, Authentic Impact

In just six months, our readership has grown organically. We didn’t chase clicks. We earned them through thoughtful storytelling and compelling content. Every new subscriber, every social media follow, every forwarded article has been a reminder of why we do this. And for that, we are deeply grateful.

We’ve received your words of encouragement. Your appreciation fuels us. But this moment is not about celebration, it’s about accountability. You’ve entrusted us with your time, your attention, and your expectations. This report is our way of saying: we see you, we hear you, and we’re working every day to earn that trust.

The Road Ahead

There is more to come. Much more. New formats, deeper reporting, wider access, bolder voices. We are setting ambitious goals and laying the groundwork to achieve them, with the same integrity, curiosity, and compassion that have guided CancerWorld since its founding.

This is a journey we’re honored to share with you. Thank you for being with us, for reading, for responding, for caring. Whether you’re a clinician, a policymaker, a patient advocate, or simply someone who believes in the power of good journalism, you are the reason we exist.

See you in the next issue.

With gratitude,
The CancerWorld Editorial Team
